Senior Associate Actuary, Valuation

Summary

Join Fidelity & Guaranty Life as a Senior Associate Actuary and become a subject matter expert for GAAP valuation processes of Fixed Index Annuity and Deferred Annuity lines of business. You will establish reserves, ensure compliance with regulations, analyze reserve movements, and produce monthly reports. Maintain and enhance valuation controls, stay updated on regulations, and support the Actuarial Valuation team. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, ASA certification, and 4+ years of actuarial experience. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science or related technical field
• ASA required
• 4+ years actuarial experience with progressively more responsibility
• Solid understanding of insurance company income statements and balance sheets
• Solid understanding of maintaining a strong control environment
• Experience with the valuation of indexed products
• Strong technical, analytical, organizational, computer, and team skills
• Proactive individual who can provide strong technical support to Actuarial Valuation team with solid analytical skills
• Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and displays a high energy level
• Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities; demonstrated ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations
• Ability to establish and maintain strong internal relationships within the company
• Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group in which members of the team work with great autonomy; take a high degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility (subject matter expert)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Establish reserves and related balances for Fixed Index Annuity and Deferred Annuity lines of business of Fidelity & Guaranty Life under the GAAP accounting basis
• Ensure the product lines comply with the various federal and state valuation regulations
• Review and analyze quarterly reserve/balance movements to be provided to management and Finance personnel, in particular
• Monthly production of reserves for the GAAP valuation basis
• Preparation, review and analysis of reserve movements
• Maintenance/enhancement and timely execution of valuation controls
• Maintenance of the valuation programs for new products, new regulations, etc
• Stay abreast of new regulations/requirements, etc
• Perform other functions, duties and projects, as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• FSA and MAAA Preferred
• Knowledge of GGY-AXIS or similar actuarial modeling software preferred
• Strong presentation skills a plus
