Summary

Join IntelliPro as a Senior Associate Attorney and provide comprehensive legal counsel to school districts. Represent school districts in employment-related lawsuits, manage disputes with agencies, and oversee discovery and settlement negotiations. Offer strategic legal guidance to school boards and HR teams on complex employment laws, developing proactive risk mitigation strategies. Draft and review employment policies, create compliant teacher and staff contracts, and ensure adherence to federal and state regulations. Deliver customized training on legal compliance and employee relations. This is a hybrid position offering a competitive salary between $230,000 and $300,000.

Requirements

  • Established background in employment litigation defense, with specific experience in school district defense
  • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees required
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Commitment to proactive case management

Responsibilities

  • Represent school districts in employment-related lawsuits, including claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving educators, staff, and administrators
  • Manage disputes filed with agencies such as the EEOC, state education departments, and labor boards
  • Oversee discovery, motion practice, and settlement negotiations, ensuring compliance with public sector employment and education laws
  • Provide guidance to school boards, superintendents, and HR teams on complex employment laws, including Title IX, ADA, FMLA, and state-specific education regulations
  • Develop proactive strategies to minimize risks in labor disputes, employee discipline, hiring practices, and contract negotiations
  • Advise on union relations, teacher tenure, and collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance and prevent litigation
  • Draft and review employment policies for school districts, covering employee conduct, tenure, discipline, and termination, ensuring alignment with employment and education laws
  • Create teacher and staff contracts compliant with public education laws, union agreements, and collective bargaining terms
  • Ensure district practices adhere to federal and state regulations, including Title IX, ADA, and other education-specific statutes
  • Deliver customized training for school district HR, administrators, and leadership on legal compliance, employee relations, and risk mitigation
  • Conduct workshops on topics such as anti-discrimination, sexual harassment prevention, and navigating teacher tenure and union regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial experience preferred but not required
  • Public entity defense experience is a plus
