Summary
Join Shift4, a leader in commerce-enabling technology, as a Senior AWS Cloud Data Engineer! This remote or on-site (multiple locations) role requires 5+ years of experience in cloud data engineering with AWS services (Redshift, Glue, Lambda). You will participate in a high-velocity agile team, work hands-on with the cloud data platform, contribute to technical design and architecture, and ensure best practices are followed. You will also mentor junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Relocation assistance may be available. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and experience with ETL tools and source control.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience working as a Cloud Data Engineer
- 5+ years working with AWS services including Redshift, AWS Glue, Lambda., etc
- 5+ years working in an Agile development environment, hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence
- 4+ years working with ETL tools (MS SSIS or similar)
- 4+ years of experience with source control (GitLab)
- Significant hands-on experience working with databases. schemas, complex queries, data modeling, stored procedures, etc. (MS SQL Server and Redshift preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Participate as a key team member within a high velocity agile engineering team
- Work hands on within the cloud data platform to deliver new features, fix issues and ensure best practices
- Contribute to the technical design and architecture development for parts of the solution
- Ensure that best practices are defined and adhered to. Diagnose and resolve issues with deployed systems (as a part of level 3 support)
- Become a technical expert for the cloud data platform
- Evaluate and resolve technical debt, engage in platform modernization and build reliable features. Recommend and implement best practices and standards for the cloud data platforms
- Work very closely with the multiple engineering teams, product owners and stakeholders to understand needs and meet data requirements
- Interface across multiple engineering teams and engineering groups working on various parts of the platform
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Analyze and update tools and processes when required. Measure key team metrics
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Certified Cloud Engineer or AWS Certified Data Engineer certifications or equivalent are a plus to have
