Senior Back-end Engineer, Remote - Italy

Summary

EXUS is seeking a Senior BackEnd Engineer to join their remote team as part of the Quality Assurance Team. The candidate will be responsible for developing efficient and scalable microservices, contributing to defining best practices, testing, maintaining, and improving software functionality and performance, mentoring other developers, and documenting application changes.

Requirements

• BSc degree in Computer Science (MSc studies will be highly appreciated)
• Proven working experience (4+ years) in backend software development on the following stack: Python, Web frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, or Django), Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Azure, SQL/NoSQL databases
• Great familiarity with: Git, pytest or other testing frameworks, Docker, Shell scripting
• Excellent knowledge of the English language (both verbal and written)
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
• Team player, self-motivated, and constantly seeking new knowledge

Responsibilities

• Develop efficient and scalable microservices
• Contribute to defining best practices for backend development
• Working independently and contributing significantly to team projects
• Test, maintain, and improve software functionality and performance
• Document application changes and software updates
• Mentor and support the growth of other developers

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with microservices architecture
• Experience or interest in DevOps (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions)
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture
