Senior Back-End Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Senior Back-End Engineer at Invaluable, where you will create APIs, work with various data stores, make architectural decisions, and stay updated on the latest trends in back-end engineering. The role requires experience in Java, Spring, API development, relational databases, AWS cloud services, message queues, CI/CD, and a passion for clean, maintainable code.

Requirements

• Experience in application development using Java (8+) and Spring (Boot, MVC, Data, etc.), with an emphasis on performance, security and scalability
• Thorough understanding of API development using both REST and GraphQL
• Strong experience with relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with AWS cloud services such as Cognito, Lambda, etc
• Experience working with message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with CI/CD (Docker, Jenkins)
• A passion to produce clean, maintainable, robust, well-tested code
• Above all, you'll bring team play, a sense of ownership, a commitment to quality, intense enthusiasm and curiosity for technology
• Demonstrated communication and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Create APIs and work with relational and NoSQL data stores, queues and other modern technologies to write performant, scalable, testable code
• Make architectural decisions as you build on our existing platform and create new product offerings

Preferred Qualifications

An ecommerce background with transferable skills would be an asset
