Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Kitman Labs as a Senior Backend Engineer to build core data-flows of products with a focus on security, privacy, robustness, and performance. You'll work with the backend engineering team to design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and data-stores. We're looking for detail-oriented individuals who are pragmatic and considered in where they spend time and effort.

Requirements

• Experience building APIs or as part of a team building dynamic web applications
• Have shown an ability to take on new technologies and languages
• Hold yourself and others to a high bar
• Take pride in working on projects through to a successful completion
• Recognise the value of standardised, fully tested code that is delivered in a CI/CD environment

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services and data-stores
• Possess a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain high standards of software quality, including effective QA processes, writing high-quality code, following best practices, and adhering to established industry standards
• Ensure cross team collaboration by working with our frontend engineers to build features that users love to use
• Work with our product team to reliably spec out and refine user stories, enabling them to be broken down and quickly delivered to production
• Confidently debug complex production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
• Be focussed and able to prioritise tasks and not get distracted by unimportant details
• Set direction from a technical architecture point of view on projects and make pragmatic decisions if projects need to be redirected or scaled back

Preferred Qualifications

• We heavily utilise Amazon Web Services so experience with AWS or similar is a bonus
• Experience working with AI tools
• Knowledge of machine learning models
