Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a fully remote Backend Engineer with at least 7 years of commercial experience to contribute to the development of our web applications. The role involves developing web-based systems, integrations with third-party systems, APIs, and working in a team environment. Requirements

• At least 7 years of commercial experience as a software engineer or equivalent
• In-depth knowledge of PHP8+
• Familiarity with modern PHP frameworks, preferably Symfony
• Solid understanding of OO programming concepts and patterns
• Familiarity with version control using Git and associated workflows
• Experience with TDD and unit testing
• A strong desire to learn and to contribute to the team’s work

Responsibilities

• Develop web based systems
• Develop functionality for our own products, administration systems and ecommerce capabilities using modern frameworks
• Develop and maintain integrations with third party systems
• Develop our APIs
• Work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree in CS or equivalent is a plus
• Good understanding of HTML and CSS
• Familiarity with modern JS frameworks
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of relational databases
• Comfortable on the command line of *NIX machines
• Experience working in cross functional teams
• An eye for user behaviour and design
