Summary

The job is for a Senior Backend Engineer at Skipify, a fast-growing payments technology company. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and microservices for their fintech applications using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Node.js, Golang, and Terraform. Mentorship and strategic development contributions are also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (relevant work experience may be considered)
  • 8+ years of relevant professional work experience in DevOps and infrastructure
  • Strong experience in backend development with a focus on cloud-based fintech solutions
  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) for managing cloud resources
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Node.js, Golang
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices
  • Experience with database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Help lead the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and microservices that power our fintech applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Build and manage cloud-based infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support our applications
  • Implement best practices for scalability, performance, and security
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and best practices
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner
  • Act as a mentor and provide expert guidance to more junior engineering team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus
  • A history of leading projects and mentoring junior team members in the financial services context
