Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Backend Engineer at Zowie, a fast-growing company that aims to recreate offline shopping experiences online. The role involves joining one of the Product Engineering teams and working with over 100 microservices predominantly coded in Scala. The engineer will have autonomy, contribute to strategic decisions, and work with a remote-first and flexible hours team.

Requirements

• Excellent coding skills and passion for growing the expertise
• 5+ years of experience with JVM languages
• Willingness to develop yourself further within Scala and Java tech stack
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical issues with simple business and product words
• Experience with Distributed systems
• Product acumen, ownership, and focus on value delivered for the customers
• Working proficiency in English and Polish (both spoken and written)

Responsibilities

You'll play a crucial role as the 7th-10th backend engineer, joining one of the quickly expanding Product Engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience with Kafka or other message brokers
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience with Docker Swarm / Kubernetes
