Senior Backend Engineer

Requirements

• Possess excellent coding skills and passion for growing the expertise
• Have 5+ years of experience with Scala or other JVM languages
• Possess excellent knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Have strong communication skills to actively listen and easily explain complex technical issues with simple business and product words
• Possess excellent system design skills that allow you to choose technologies and architectures wisely
• Have experience with Distributed systems
• Demonstrate product acumen, ownership, and focus on value delivered for the customers
• Have working proficiency in English and Polish (both spoken and written)

Responsibilities

• Play a crucial role by joining one of the quickly expanding Product Engineering teams
• Manage and enhance a sophisticated system comprising over 100 microservices, predominantly coded in Scala and Java
• Handle asynchronous calls via Kafka
• Expose GraphQL to the frontend
• Leverage databases like PostgreSQL, Mongo, ElasticSearch, or Redis
• Contribute not only to code but also to the strategic decisions that shape our product
• Shape end-to-end solutions
• Influence architecture decisions
• Propose crucial enhancements to our engineering practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with NoSQL databases
• Have experience with Kafka or other message brokers
• Have experience with Akka framework
• Have experience with functional programming libraries like Cats, Fs2, ZIO, Http4s, etc
• Have experience with GraphQL
• Have experience with Docker Swarm / Kubernetes
