Summary

Join Marqeta's Risk, Fraud and Disputes Product Team as a Senior Business Analyst. You will analyze business processes, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity. Partner with cross-functional teams (Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, Legal, and Operations). Present findings to Marqeta's customers and actively collaborate with them to solve problems. This role offers flexibility, allowing remote work within the United States or from the Oakland, CA headquarters. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of business operations and technical products. You will work with diverse internal teams and customers to understand payment card programs, focusing on fraud, risk, and disputes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis or product management and development; experience in maturing products already on the market
  • Good understanding of data analysis and visualization tools that may include, but are not limited to, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python (or R), and Tableau (or Looker)
  • Strong understanding of the payment industry including risk, fraud and disputes
  • Bachelor degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or other quantitative field
  • Proven track record of applying analytical/statistical methods, and testing to actualize real-world, data-driven problem solving
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced and dynamic environment requiring a high degree of personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity and trust
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills with all levels of the organization, as well as senior executives and customers
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships and alliances internally and with external partners at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Work with diverse internal teams and customers to understand payment card programs, with a specific emphasis on fraud, risk and disputes
  • Work directly with customers to understand their business requirements and share best practices in order to drive growth
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions
  • Keep a pulse on industry best practices around payment risk, fraud and disputes
  • Work with Data Science team to identify new product opportunities; identify new sources of data capabilities that can help both Marqeta and its customers
  • Develop a deep understanding of the hundreds of data attributes available within Marqeta’s open API and ecosystem of data
  • Assess the current state of data capabilities & developing a roadmap for the desired future state
  • Convert existing data capabilities into new product opportunities
  • Define product metrics, build reporting, and monitor performance; leveraging data to drive decisioning making
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to ongoing optimization efforts
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and executives
  • Enable a delightful customer experience and have a customer first approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, API’s, programming languages, and databases
  • Implementation of solutions processing 100M+ transactions per day
  • Advanced degree in Business, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or other quantitative field
