Senior Character Artist

Summary

Join Gameloft Bucharest as a Senior Character Artist and play a key role in creating high-quality character models for cross-platform projects. Realize the artistic vision of characters, design and model 3D characters with attention to detail, collaborate with various departments, and work with the Art Director and Character Art Lead to streamline the production pipeline. You will also support and mentor less experienced artists. The position requires 5+ years of experience in game development, proficiency in 3D software, and a strong understanding of anatomy. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience creating characters for game development
• Strong understanding 3D applications software like 3Ds Max or Maya , ZBrush , Substance Painter and game engines like Unreal
• A compelling portfolio showcasing your character/creature art skills
• An exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy with a keen eye towards form, structure, and silhouette and overall appeal
• A love for gaming and a desire to create compelling characters
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, address challenges proactively, and a drive for continuous learning and professional development

Responsibilities

• Realize the overall artistic vision of characters based on designs, concepts and descriptions
• Design, model, and texture high quality 3D characters, paying close attention to anatomical proportions, physiology and overall geometry to work well with rigging and skin deformation
• Working closely with all major departments in the work (Art, Design, Code,) to ensure all requirements for the characters are gathered and well understood
• Work with Art Director and project Character Art Lead to combine ideas and methodologies of character production to create an efficient, streamlined pipeline
• Multitask effectively, prioritize competing demands, and follow through on details
• Support and mentor other Artists who are less experienced and require more direction

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge about character setup (skinning, rigging), clothing, hair, maxscript and/or python
