Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or JD is a plus
  • 10+ years of professional working experience
  • Proven experience (preferably 5+ years) as a Construction Contracts Manager, with specific expertise in renewable energy sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, contract negotiation, and project management principles
  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, including solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess contractual risks and propose effective mitigation strategies
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficient in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards
  • Location: San Francisco Bay Area; San Diego, CA; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Austin, TX or Remote
  • The position could require up to 20% domestic travel

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end process of Request for Proposal (RFP) development, evaluation, and selection for renewable energy projects
  • Negotiate and draft construction contracts that adhere to project requirements, legal guidelines, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including development, project management, engineering, interconnection, capital markets and power marketing teams, to identify and address contractual risks and opportunities
  • Effectively communicate with senior executives both internally and externally
  • Conduct thorough analysis and review of contractual terms, including insurance, warranties, indemnities, and performance guarantees
  • Coordinate with the project management, consultants, and legal advisors to ensure compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and local laws
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to renewable energy projects
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement efficient contract management strategies
  • Provide regular updates on the status of contracts to the project teams and management
  • Maintain well-documented files to accurately track contract templates, approvals, executed contracts, and pending contracts
  • Interpret existing contracts and provide guidance to the project management and operations teams on contractual and interpretation issues
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills, even in ambiguous situations

Base Pay - $150,000 - $170,000
