Summary

Join Planful's growing Legal team as a Senior Corporate Counsel (Commercial & Product)! This role is crucial in driving go-to-market initiatives, managing commercial transactions, supporting product development and launches, and advancing our privacy and legal operations programs. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders across various departments, helping scale the legal function in a fast-paced environment. Lead and negotiate complex commercial contracts, advise on legal and business risks, develop and manage privacy programs, and contribute to legal operations. The ideal candidate possesses a JD, 7+ years of legal experience (3+ years in-house at a tech company), strong SaaS/technology contracting and product counseling expertise, and in-depth knowledge of data privacy laws. Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 7+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years of in-house experience at a tech company
  • Located in Pacific or Mountain time zone of the U.S
  • Strong expertise in SaaS or technology commercial contracting and product counseling
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy laws and regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and proactive with a strong business mindset
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including SaaS, vendor, partnership, and customer agreements
  • Support product development and launch initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory and legal standards
  • Advise GTM teams on legal and business risks related to new offerings, pricing models, and strategic initiatives
  • Develop and manage privacy and data protection programs, including compliance with global privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, GDPR)
  • Contribute to legal operations by building and optimizing scalable processes, templates, and knowledge management tools
  • Monitor evolving regulations and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders with actionable guidance
  • Provide pragmatic legal advice across the business on ad hoc matters as needed
  • Support the development and implementation of internal legal processes and compliance programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with legal ops platforms, CLM tools, or contract automation
  • Familiarity with AI-related legal issues and emerging tech
