Join Carrum Health's growing Data Engineering and Operations team as a Senior Data Engineer. You will support ingestion implementations and data exports, becoming a subject matter expert on ingested data. This role offers the opportunity to expand into other areas of the data engineering stack, including Python, Docker, AWS batch jobs, and Lambda functions. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of experience in healthcare data engineering and analytics, proficiency in SQL and Python, and a strong understanding of HIPAA compliance. Requirements
- 10+ years professional experience in healthcare data engineering and analytics, including the knack of troubleshooting imperfect data
- Previously supported data ingestion and analytics processes while partnering with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency with a variety of data engineering technology and a proven ability to learn new tools. Weβre specifically looking for someone who can dive into SQL, is comfortable with Python, and is willing to expand into docker and Bash as the teamβs needs evolve
- A history of understanding and supporting systems with an approach centered on data quality and scalability
- An appreciation for the challenges and optimizations relevant to an early-stage start-up environment
- Interpersonal skills β you donβt have a hard time being empathetic, courteous, and collaborative
- Experience in the healthcare space, particularly with the problems inherent in ingesting these data sets
Responsibilities
- Support creative solutions to evolving challenges around data ingestion, processing, and modeling
- Master the ins and outs of our healthcare datasets, serving as subject matter expert for the technical and business requirements of ingesting medical claims and insurance eligibility
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to properly understand data needs
- Support pipelines that power analytics, machine learning, and data products
- Partner with the Client Success and Partnerships teams on new ingestion implementations and investigate questions from external stakeholders related to data engineering processes and products
- Understand HIPAA compliance and support Carrumβs success in this area
- Participate early in the development of a robust data foundation and infrastructure, collaborating on quality control, ETL, build pipelines, internal reporting systems, and self-service tools as the organization grows
- Have a direct impact on the technical direction and product roadmap of the company
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS or Azure compute jobs is a plus
