Summary

Join Marqeta's Data Science team as a Data Engineer! Build and maintain resilient, scalable data pipelines for accurate transaction data. Automate processes through scripting, leveraging strong SQL and Python skills. Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to ensure data accessibility and solve data-related problems. Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience, working with large data sets
  • Strong SQL and  python skills, including experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • 4+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Snowflake, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Foundation of integrity and strong character to consistently represent Marqeta’s values
  • Self-starter who is a consummate team player and is willing to dive into ambiguous problems
  • Ability to communicate, prioritize, and deliver. Highly motivated and able to work in an agile environment

Responsibilities

  • Build resilient, scalable data pipelines to ensure accurate and timely fund movements that are critical to Marqeta’s business
  • Drive automation acoss the data lifecycle—pipelines, quality checks, lineage tracking, and anomaly detection
  • Partner with data analytis teams to build infrastructure that enables easy access to reliable data for analysis, product development, and business logic implementation
  • Work with business stakeholders to solve data-related problems by matching business objectives with existing solutions and ad-hoc analytics
  • Build automation through Python scripting or other methods
  • Work cross functionally with Product, Tech, Ops, and Bank Partners to progress against business objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payments, financial services, and/or fintech industries
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different functions and levels, both internally and with partners
  • Startup/high growth company experience with a proven track record of thriving in high-performing teams and fast-paced environments
