Summary

Join Pleo's Data Services team as a Staff Data Engineer to design and scale the data warehouse, enable self-serve analytics, and build maintainable data products. Lead technical design discussions, align teams on scalable solutions, and mentor others. You will translate complex business logic into clean data models, partner with various teams to improve data quality, and define the future of the semantic layer. This role requires deep experience with the modern data stack (dbt, BigQuery, Airflow) and proven ability to design end-to-end data architecture. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset towards data quality and governance. Pleo offers a collaborative team environment focused on long-term quality and career development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Deep experience with the modern data stack, especially dbt, BigQuery, and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, dbt Cloud)

  • A strong understanding of data modeling and platform trade-offs, and the ability to drive architectural decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term scalability
  • A track record of working across domains to align stakeholders on shared definitions, model ownership, and reuse
  • A proactive mindset when it comes to data quality, governance, and system design—you raise the bar and help others do the same
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate as a technical partner to analytics, engineering, and product leaders
