Senior Data Scientist

Summary

Join Extend's Finance Analytics team as a Data Scientist and contribute to the modernization of the protection plan industry. You will take ownership of financial modeling and forecasting, working closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include building and maintaining data architecture, ensuring financial data integrity, and communicating findings across the organization. This role requires expertise in forecasting models, SQL, and Python, along with strong analytical and communication skills. Requirements

• Hands-on experience with forecasting models (time series models such as ARIMA) is a must
• Bachelor's degree from a relevant major
• 3+ years of work experience as a data scientist, 2+ years of experience with financial modeling
• Ability to communicate/present across the organization, especially to teams with less data & analytics experience
• Expertise with SQL and Python
• Empathy and humility

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of modeling and forecasting key components of Extend’s financials (such as Claims Expenses, Servicing Costs, etc.) to help financial planning and driving strategic changes
• Work closely with CFO and other company leaders, cross-functional teams to understand different areas that impact revenue / financials of the organization and help with better forecasting / monitoring
• Build and maintain data architecture for financial and accounting input. Work closely with Data Engineering to make optimal use of available tools (DBT, Snowflake, JIRA, Github, etc)
• Lead efforts around financial data integrity through appropriate tools and governance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree is a plus
• Tech/Fintech experience is a plus
