Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building data science/machine learning products, preferably with a focus on fraud/risk
  • Strong statistical and machine learning foundations, including anomaly detection and classification
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Bring an entrepreneur and innovation mind set to Nuvei, advancing the adoption of next gen technology and capabilities
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and SQL
  • English (written and spoken) is required as work involves cross-functional collaboration with teams across North America

Responsibilities

  • Perform deep exploratory data analysis (EDA) on transactional and user behavior data to uncover fraud and loss patterns and anomalies
  • Design, develop and refine learning models to prevent and payment fraud, consumer abuse, and while optimize authentication and conversation rates
  • Build dashboards and automated monitoring for fraud risk indicators (fraud rates, chargebacks, etc.) for internal and external stakeholders
  • Tune decisioning rules and model thresholds to prevent fraud while maintaining user experience
  • Design and test new risk models to improve performance and business impact from new techniques
  • Partner with product, engineering, and operations to deploy models into production and integrate with new and existing workflows
  • Support fraud investigations and update models through post-incident learnings
  • Present findings to senior leadership, shaping risk policies and product roadmap
  • Mentor junior team members and promote data science and machine learning best practices across the team

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in gaming, gambling, fintech, or high-risk industries is a plus
