Summary

Join AbbVie's Development Sciences Data & Digital Strategy CORE team as a Data Scientist. You will conceive, design, and implement new tools and solutions using large, complex datasets to solve scientific and business problems. This role requires strong machine learning skills, experience in pharmaceutical data, and excellent communication abilities. You will collaborate with scientific teams, investigate new technologies, and potentially mentor junior team members. Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience, Masterโ€™s Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, PhD and typically 4 years of experience
  • Strong background in machine learning (ML) modeling for scientific applications
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Ability to work in a global environment with teams at multiple sites

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, design and implement new solutions that solve significant scientific or business problems through the integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise
  • Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies related to the storage, transfer, integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data sets
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare business, with a particular focus on the science done in Development Biological Science, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of impactful solutions
  • Operate independently with guidance or oversight from a supervisor when needed
  • Proactively seek out new information and technologies in the literature/public domain and incorporate into individual project(s) as well as the overall program
  • May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate brings a blend of strong scientific experience in the biotech/pharma industry and excellent IT skills
  • Background and experience in core Development Biological Sciences data and workflows a strong plus, including but not limited to toxicology, pathology, and pharmacokinetics data and workflows
