Summary

Join our NRS Team as a Senior Database Administrator! This role focuses on the design, configuration, scalability, and performance tuning of Postgres RDS instances crucial to our cloud infrastructure, supporting over 30,000 customers. Based primarily in Minsk, Belarus, you will manage a large AWS RDS Postgre SQL database, handling tasks such as advanced querying, optimization, troubleshooting, upgrade planning, capacity planning, data migration, backup/recovery, and security. You will also be responsible for automating maintenance tasks, disaster recovery planning, and cost management. Requirements

  • Responsibility for a large AWS RDS Postgre SQL database
  • Expectation is for experience with tasks such as: advanced knowledge of SQL for querying, optimization, and troubleshooting new partitions/triggers/seq etc upgrade planning and execution monitoring and alerts capacity planning data archiving/migrations/import/export/etc database backup/recovery database documentation
  • Reporting and analytics support
  • Security management
  • Automate maintenance tasks (audit,fixes,reindexing,etc)
  • Disaster recovery planning
  • Cost management

Responsibilities

  • Move large database to new AWS account
  • Split database into acorn and regular ops
  • Further splitting by function, as needed, including choosing alternative dbs
  • Performance evaluation of current db
  • Review/coord with devs about errors/warnings in logs
  • Continuing performance monitoring/tuning/optimization
  • Improve existing queries
  • Perform reviews of new queries
  • Manage users/roles/permissions/access
  • Create a load testing framework schema review/design/management/change management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in languages like shell scripting for automating repetitive tasks
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting including ability to diagnose and resolve database issues promptly and strong analytical skills to conduct root cause analysis and prevent recurring issues
  • Ability to clearly communicate database issues and updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects, and maintaining documentation
  • Works well with cross-functional teams
