Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• Minimum of 7 years of related work experience with data platforms

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems that align with business objectives and technical constraints
• Ensure the integrity, availability, and security of databases through regular monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and ensure efficient data access
• Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data
• Stay current on industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws
• Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime
• Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery procedures to validate system reliability
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks, working proactively to optimize database systems
• Analyze and interpret performance metrics to make recommendations for improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and support
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database design and configuration, manuals, technical guides, and operational procedures
• Balance long-term thinking with rapidly delivering solutions to improve our system’s stability

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in a wide variety of database technologies (MySQL, Vertica, Cassandra, Redis)
• Knowledge in TiDB is a huge plus
• Experience with cloud-based database platforms (RDS, Aurora, Keyspaces, CloudSQL, BigTable)
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Puppet
