Summary

Join Vonage's Developer Relations team as a Developer Advocate (Video) and play a key role in the successful adoption of our next-generation video platform. You will lead developer experience initiatives during platform modernization, guiding the transition from legacy infrastructure. This strategic role involves creating tools and resources for seamless migration and implementation, ensuring developers effectively leverage our video and voice APIs. You will bridge engineering, product management, and the developer community, focusing on creating migration tools, reference implementations, and developer resources. Your work will be crucial in helping developers leverage our video and voice APIs effectively, combining technical expertise with strategic insight to drive platform adoption and usage. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on a global cloud communications leader.

Requirements

  • Strong software development experience with expertise in video/streaming technologies
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages relevant to video development
  • Experience with API design and implementation
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a remote environment

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, code samples, and tutorials that demonstrate best practices for video API implementation
  • Host webinars, workshops, and hackathons to educate developers on building and scaling video-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain tools that help keep API documentation current, including automated testing of code samples and integration examples
  • Design and develop tools, scripts, and utilities that facilitate seamless migration from legacy OpenTok infrastructure to our modern video platform
  • Gather and analyze developer feedback to identify opportunities for tooling improvements and new automation solutions
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Support teams to ensure tooling aligns with platform capabilities and developer needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Developer Experience, Developer Relations or Developer Advocacy experience
  • Understanding of WebRTC and real-time communication protocols
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages commonly used for tooling
  • Familiarity with cloud communication platforms (CPaaS), Network APIs, and Vonage APIs
  • Background in creating developer documentation and technical content
