Senior Director, Engineering

Summary

Join Vanta's Test Automation Platform (TAP) team as the Senior Director of Engineering and lead strategic initiatives to enhance customer integration with various tools and services. You will build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, guide technical strategy, and partner with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include managing a 300+ integration ecosystem, scaling data infrastructure, and shaping Vanta's engineering culture. This role requires extensive engineering leadership experience, a proven ability to build and lead large teams, and strong business acumen. Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering leadership experience, with deep experience working on complex products in a high growth environment
• Experience leading engineering organizations of 50+ while managing directors, senior managers and/or line managers
• Passion for leading, coaching and building an inspired team through setting vision, unlocking potential, and driving compassionate accountability
• Business acumen paired with an understanding of how to drive step change results through product innovation
• Strong decision maker who effectively balances ambiguity, available data, speed, and quality
• Effective communicator and story-teller. Able to influence cross functional stakeholders and at all levels
• Operates at multiple altitudes, from developing vision and strategy to driving execution and being accountable for technical direction
• Have participated in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc) in a prior role
• Has experience scaling and growing an organization
• Strong interest in learning about security, compliance and adjacent domains

Responsibilities

• Independently identify and realize strategies that deliver significant value to our customers and business
• Build a best-in-class engineering team. Coach, mentor and create an environment where your team can do their best work and deliver for the business
• Guide technical strategy, ensuring that your teams are delivering long-term value aligned with Vanta’s business priorities
• Partner closely with your respective Design, Product and GTM counterparts to build best in class products and bring them to market
• Drive and manage Vanta's engineering contractor strategy to align with business needs and operational goals
• Play an integral role in laying the foundation for Vanta’s engineering culture and strategy: building a modular, scalable architecture with clean interfaces, supporting iterative development with a focus on velocity and quality, and raising the bar for operational excellence to support a growing global customer base
