Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus 10+ years’ experience in buildings electrical systems design preferred in a consulting or utility environment
  • Must have or be eligible for the P. Eng. designation in Ontario
  • Electrical design and specification experience in the following building systems: power distribution in buildings, lighting design, fire alarm systems, card access and camera security systems, PA systems, telecommunications systems and audio-visual systems
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical designs and drawings of building facilities and building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, PA, IT, etc., using computer-aided tools (e.g. EDSA and ETAP analytical software, CDEGS grounding software, Revit, AutoCad, and MicroStation CAD systems)
  • Assist to identify cost-effective solutions to design problems
  • Lead electrical design teams on larger multi-discipline projects
  • Liaise internally with project managers and other discipline project leaders to obtain project information and to discuss specific design related problems
  • Assist in creating and presenting technical reports regarding the nature, status, and results of design or study assignments
  • Recognize the implications of assigned work on the work of other disciplines, and ensure the necessary coordination occurs

Preferred Qualifications

Strong skills in the use of the REVIT modeling system
