Senior Engineer - Warehouse Management System

Summary

Join Trove Recommerce as a Senior Engineer and become a technical leader in designing, developing, and deploying our Recommerce Warehouse Management System (ReWMS). You will architect and build ReWMS applications to efficiently manage inventory, fulfill orders, and optimize warehouse operations. This role requires expertise in WMS fundamentals and experience in high-volume transaction environments. You will collaborate with warehouse operations teams, lead technical decisions, and establish robust monitoring practices. Your work will directly impact our sustainable retail mission by improving the efficiency of processing secondhand goods. Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in software development
• Demonstrated expertise in WMS fundamentals including warehouse operations design, inventory control strategies, and fulfillment optimization - this role requires someone who can immediately contribute domain knowledge, not learn WMS concepts on the job
• Track record of optimizing system performance in high-volume transaction environments
• Experience with asynchronous processing, queueing systems, and distributed system design
• Ability to balance technical elegance with pragmatic solutions that solve immediate operational needs
• Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between warehouse operations and engineering teams
• Passion for sustainability and the circular economy, with a drive to build technology that makes recommerce more efficient and scalable

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve our Recommerce Warehouse Management (ReWMS) System to support increasing scale and complexity of warehouse operations
• Design robust integrations between ReWMS and other critical systems (e-commerce platform, 3PLs and ERPs)
• Write and deploy excellent TypeScript code that resonates and works well for our customers as quickly as possible
• Lead technical decisions regarding ReWMS customizations, extensions, and optimizations to support unique recommerce workflows
• Partner with warehouse operations teams to translate their requirements into technical solutions
• Establish monitoring, observability, and reliability practices for mission-critical ReWMS components

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specific WMS platforms or logistics software (Manhattan, HighJump, etc.)
• Background in designing systems that handle unique recommerce challenges like product condition grading or authentication
• Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
• Prior experience working at a startup
