Senior Frontend Software Engineer

Summary

Join Reddit's Core Experience organization as a Frontend Engineer and contribute to the evolution of Reddit's posting experience. You will design, build, and ship web frontend code for millions of users, collaborating with product and design teams. This high-impact role requires 5+ years of relevant experience in frontend development, proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, and experience with various web frameworks. You will own projects from ideation to production, contributing to the team's strategy and fostering a healthy engineering culture. Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of post-internship, full-time, hands-on, professional software development experience developing software in one or more front end focused programming languages; Javascript, Typescript, ES6
• Experience with one or more front-end web frameworks such as LIT, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular with experience with CSS
• Experienced with distributed caching layers, and distributed large scale data storage systems
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and to deliver projects on schedule
• BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure
• Excellent communication skills. You partner effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship Web frontend code, experiments and products for millions of users
• Work cross-functionally, collaborate and partner with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features that our users will love
• Communicate effectively, within the team and across disciplines. Work closely with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences
• Contribute meaningfully to our team’s strategy. We give everyone a seat at the table and encourage active participation in planning our future. Don’t just come along for the ride
• Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs
• Foster a healthy engineering culture and collaborate with other engineers

Preferred Qualifications

Experienced with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift basics, and the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs is a plus
