Summary

Join Calendly's Trust & Safety team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer and contribute to safeguarding the platform's integrity. You will design, develop, and maintain systems to prevent, detect, and respond to fraudulent activity, abuse, and other threats in real-time. This role requires strong technical competency, distributed systems experience, and a results-driven mindset. You will work on decomposing the Calendly system into various services to scale the platform and team, build new features, and develop tooling and automation to optimize the delivery process. You will also learn to work with multiple technologies, including Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Go, Node, TypeScript, Rails, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, and more.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Software Development experience at a SaaS or technology company
  • Proven track record within the Trust & Safety domain and familiarity with addressing challenges around spam detection, account takeovers, and content moderation
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their applications in fraud detection and abuse prevention
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing, including practical experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Node + TypeScript and Rails with a drive to craft clean, reliable, and maintainable code; including writing comprehensive tests – unit, functional, and integration tests
  • Strong web frontend skills with experience utilizing React for client-side application development
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to design solutions to complex challenges
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement systems to detect and mitigate fraud, abuse, and other threats to platform integrity
  • Develop algorithms and machine learning models to identify patterns of malicious behavior and enforce preventive measures
  • Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Security teams to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Build monitoring and alerting tools to proactively address emerging threats
  • Optimize performance and scalability of Trust & Safety systems to support the platform's growth
  • Conduct root cause analyses of incidents and implement long-term fixes to enhance system resilience
  • Stay informed about new security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies in the Trust & Safety domain
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with cloud providers like Google Cloud to deploy and manage services, along with leveraging infrastructure-as-code and Terraform is a plus
