You will help scale a platform transforming democracy, designing and developing intuitive tools for desktop and mobile, translating product requirements into high-quality software, integrating AI and LLM use cases, maintaining design standards, and collaborating with a lean, agile team. Requirements
- A passionate engineer ready to tackle the audacious challenge of re-coding our democracy for Good
- Strong JavaScript skills, with experience in React.js and knowledge of API best practices
- Excellent CSS/SCSS skills, capable of creating accurate, responsive designs
- Proven track record with 8+ years of relevant full-time work experience, ideally within a fast-paced 0-to-1 environment
- Active interest and experience in using AI, LLMs, and automation of tasks through AI
- Experience building design systems using component architecture
- Advanced technical and analytical skills to diagnose, isolate, and resolve problems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to iteratively solve problems in real-time
Responsibilities
- Design and develop intuitive, inclusive, and accessible tools that function seamlessly across desktop and mobile web platforms, empowering candidates and elected officials to take effective action
- Translate product requirements and designs into high-quality, working software for candidates on our web-based platform
- Integrate AI and LLM use cases, utilizing best practices in AI to enhance our product and support candidates in their campaigns
- Identify and maintain pixel-perfect, site-wide design standards to ensure a consistent and engaging user experience
- Collaborate with our lean, agile team working directly with product, design, and QA teams
- Report directly to the CTO, contributing to strategic decisions and the overall direction of our technology stack
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Nest.js, or AWS
- Built or scaled design systems in prior roles
- Background in political tech, civic engagement, or organizing
