Senior iOS Engineer

Summary

Brightwheel is seeking an experienced Senior iOS Engineer to join their mobile team. The engineer will be responsible for developing software solutions, ensuring quality, scalability, and performance, collaborating with product managers and designers, improving engineering velocity, proactively identifying and diagnosing quality issues, driving data-driven decision making, promoting excellence in engineering process & culture, mentoring peers and junior engineers, interviewing and evaluating engineering candidates, and working in a dynamic startup environment.

Requirements

• You must have 5+ years of professional experience with iOS in a fast-moving team setting
• You must have deep technical knowledge of the iOS development ecosystem, standard architectural patterns and its frameworks, including expertise in Swift and SwiftUI
• You should be confident in onboarding yourself to a project and operate with little guidance, but know when to ask for help
• You should be comfortable consuming REST APIs
• You are comfortable with standard tools, such as GitHub, Apple App Store, and common analytics tools/logging tools
• You should have at least limited understanding of legacy iOS technologies including UIKIt, storyboards, Objective-C or RxSwift

Responsibilities

• Develop software solutions for medium to large-scale product engineering projects towards a business goal
• Be a steward of quality, scalability, and performance
• Lead complex projects that you will be able to own outright, or collaborate with other engineers on
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to shape and define features
• Improve engineering velocity by adhering to best practices and frameworks
• Proactively identify and diagnose quality issues; rapidly deploy code to address issues
• Drive sound, data-driven decision-making; analyze data insights to uncover opportunities to improve the customer experience
• Promote excellence in engineering process & culture with your team and the iOS discipline
• Collaborate effectively with technical as well as non-technical functions across the company with empathy
• Mentor peers and junior engineers. Build trust and respect in the team
• Interview and evaluate engineering candidate technical capabilities to help grow our engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with modern cloud-based web architectures is a plus
