Summary

Join Brandwatch, a Cision product, as a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain high-volume data processing and storage platform.

Requirements

  • Extensive professional experience with Java
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design and implementation
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and build automation systems (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins CI)
  • Experience working in horizontally scaled, data-intensive environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great numerical and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture, big data systems, and distributed computing
  • Comfortable with Unix/Linux operating systems and command line environments

Responsibilities

  • Work with our infrastructure and application teams to grow and evolve the core data processing and storage systems of our platform
  • Work with the product manager and engineering lead in an agile team, translating requirements into technical solutions
  • Build RESTful APIs in Java with Spring Framework and PostgreSQL to support the business logic of our applications
  • Build high-volume data processing pipelines, full-text search and analytics APIs using Kafka, Lucene and Solr to support our core product functionality
  • Monitor performance of our systems, propose and implement optimisations
  • Help with hiring, training, onboarding and mentoring of team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience with high-throughput data ingestion queuing/streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ etc.)
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL in performance-sensitive deployments
  • Knowledge of Lucene, Elasticsearch/Solr, NoSQL databases
  • Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, GCP etc
