Summary

Join Forbes Vetted as a Senior Kitchen Editor and lead the strategy, content planning, and execution of the kitchen section. You will write, assign, edit, and track performance across various content types, including product guides and reviews. Collaborate with other editors to ensure comprehensive home and kitchen coverage, optimize content, and work on special projects. Manage a staff writer and leverage SEO and analytics tools to achieve team goals. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience writing and editing kitchen-related content for a commerce publication, along with management experience and strong writing and editing skills. This role reports to the Forbes Vetted Deputy Editor for home and sleep.

Requirements

  • Is an expert in the home and kitchen space, with 5+ years of experience writing and editing similar content for a commerce editorial publication
  • Has 2+ years managing a direct report, such as a writer or editor
  • Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills as well as a network of PR contacts in the kitchen space
  • Has a strong understanding of SEO best practices, plus prior experience with commerce writing and affiliate strategy
  • Has experience with hands-on product testing in the kitchen space
  • Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business
  • Is a team player who can multitask and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Is eager to innovate and experiment editorially to help grow the Forbes Vetted audience

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead coverage within the kitchen vertical, with topics including large and small appliances, food and beverages, cleaning and organizing, home improvement and more
  • Plan the editorial calendar for kitchen content in collaboration with the deputy editor, strategy editor and editorial leadership
  • Write and edit kitchen content based on SEO and audience data, trends, seasonality and other KPIs; assign articles to other Forbes Vetted staff and manage their workflow
  • Create reliable, best-in-class commerce content for Forbes Vetted readers through diligent and thorough hands-on testing, research and expert interviews
  • Directly manage a staff writer and coach them to create high-quality content that meets revenue and brand goals
  • Leverage SEO tools like Google Keywords and SEMrush, plus analytics tools like Looker, to help plan content and track performance against team and individual goals
  • Plan and create off-platform content on kitchen topics in collaboration with the Forbes Vetted audience development team
  • Participate in sales event coverage, including shifts over holiday weekends that may include Memorial Day, Labor Day, Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday

Benefits

  • The annual base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $105,000
