Join Natera's Bioinformatics team as a Senior/Lead Bioinformatics Scientist focused on Oncology Product Development. You will design and prototype cutting-edge algorithms for genetic data analysis and develop ctDNA-based diagnostic tests. Collaborate with molecular biology and biostatistics teams. The ideal candidate possesses a strong bioinformatics and data science background, ideally with DNA methylation data analysis or modeling experience. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from research to commercial launch. Contribute to intellectual property and rigorous data analysis efforts. This role requires excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
Requirements
- Masterβs degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (bioinformatics, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, or similar)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in a data science and/or bioinformatics role
- Experience using Python or R for scientific data analysis and visualization
- Strong foundation in statistical modeling/machine learning, including probability theory and estimation/classification methods
- Experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data, preferably including algorithm development or optimization
- Proven ability to apply mathematical principles to solve real estimation problems and implement practical solutions
- Experience writing code in a production environment and using version control
- Excellent communication skills and the desire to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including detection of cancer-associated variants or methylation patterns and implementation of evidence-based quality control thresholds
- Leverage accurate statistical or probabilistic models to build the next round of algorithms and products
- Move products through the full development process, from research through commercial launch
- Help design and interpret molecular biology experiments
- Contribute to our intellectual property portfolio
- Drive rigorous data analysis efforts and support group efforts in the production of high-quality documentation
