Requirements

  • Qualified German solicitor with over 5 years post-qualified experience, with a strong academic background
  • Previous in-house legal experience working as a sales lawyer for a global technology company
  • Extensive background in information technology and data protection law
  • Proven experience in negotiating sales contracts on customer calls and leading complex contract negotiations
  • A good understanding of cross-jurisdictional issues that may arise when negotiating global agreements with multinational companies, particularly in relation to the EMEA region
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal clients and legal stakeholders and act as a business enabler
  • Confident in advising senior management on legal, risk, and strategic issues with a willingness to challenge when required
  • Flexible approach, willing to accommodate UK working hours to support EMEA sales teams
  • Ability to simplify, problem solve, multitask, and work effectively against deadlines
  • Excellent commercial and strategic business judgment
  • Fluent in German and English

Responsibilities

  • Act as a dedicated Legal business partner for all German commercial transactions, with a strong focus on sales, and supporting other transactions in the EMEA region
  • Structure, negotiate, and draft sales, partner, and related agreements
  • Advise senior executives and other business team members on general legal and contract-specific issues and risks
  • Provide the requisite legal approval on sales contracts in accordance with standard policies and procedures, escalating non-standard matters to the VP, Deputy General Counsel
  • Partner with the International Legal team and US Legal team to ensure a consistent global approach
  • Provide training to the sales teams on legal engagement and standard legal policies and procedures
  • Attend regular meetings with the sales and legal stakeholders, provide written progress reports, and deliver on process improvement initiatives
  • Provide employment legal support where required
