Join PrizePicks, a rapidly growing sports company, as a Senior Legal Counsel—Public Affairs. You will provide expert legal advice on gaming law, regulatory affairs, and public policy, counseling management and the SVP Legal & Compliance. Responsibilities include managing the company's global regulatory counsel network, developing legislative advocacy strategies, drafting legislative language, and representing the company in meetings with legislators. You will also monitor legislation, collaborate with internal teams, and provide cross-functional advice. This role requires 5-9 years of experience in gaming or gaming-adjacent law, a J.D. from an accredited law school, and a U.S. law license. While based in Atlanta is preferred, remote work is possible. The salary range is $170,000 to $195,000.

Requirements

  • 5-9 years of legal experience in gaming or gaming-adjacent law
  • Having a background and/or working knowledge of the DFS industry
  • Strong team player confident in working with others in cross-functional capacities and comfortable reporting to executive-level supervisors
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • License to practice law in at least one state of the United States of America
  • Residence in the United States
  • Willingness to travel to state capitols, gaming conferences, and Company headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a variety of gaming law issues, including but not limited to state and federal laws and regulations governing fantasy sports, sports betting, and broader gaming activities
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to the SVP Legal & Compliance and Executive Leadership Team on emerging legal trends, regulatory risks, and opportunities related to gaming law and public policy
  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel and leadership to the Public Affairs team, who will be the primary “client” for this position
  • Direct and manage the Company’s global regulatory counsel network
  • Develop and execute comprehensive legislative advocacy strategies to support the Company's objectives and protect its interests
  • Draft legislative language, amendments, position papers, and testimony for presentation to lawmakers and committees
  • Represent the Company directly or indirectly through industry associations in meetings with legislators, legislative staff, and policymakers
  • Testify as needed in legislative and regulatory hearings
  • Proactively monitor and analyze proposed legislation at federal, state, and local levels related to gaming, advertising, consumer protection, and technology, assessing potential impact on Company operations
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Product, and other internal teams to ensure that RG, AML and KYC policies and procedures meet evolving gaming and financial regulations
  • Provide cross-functional advice to the licensing and gaming regulatory compliance functions, including future expansion priorities and scoping
  • Assist with general legal matters as directed by the SVP of Legal & Compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience preferred in working for or managing outside counsel from large, national law firms
  • Prior Experience working with corporate Public Affairs departments
