Senior PHP Back-End Engineer

Summary

Locals is a platform that empowers independent content creators to publish their content, engage with supporters, and make money. The job involves building infrastructure for performance optimization, working on cross-platform solutions, developing APIs, and MySQL queries. The candidate should have 7+ years of software engineering experience in PHP7, OOP, MVC, and MySQL. Remote work is available within the Eastern Time Zone, with occasional domestic travel.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a proven development record in PHP7, OOP and MVC
• 7+ years of MySQL experience - you are a master at writing scalable code as well as envisioning new frameworks and configurations to run queries with high volume data
• Experience with any popular framework like Laravel
• Experience with High Load / Big Data and RESTful API

Responsibilities

• Building the infrastructure for performance optimization, technological independence, video scaling and other product improvements
• Working with developers and our head of backend development to build resilient and responsive cross-platform solutions
• Developing and designing APIs and MySQL queries for 3rd-party integrations, big data information processing, and the seamless coordination of our product functionality across multiple platforms, including app, web and tv

Preferred Qualifications

Remote: Eastern Time Zone only, also willing and able to travel 10-25% of the time (mostly domestic)
