Requirements

  • At least 4-6 years of experience in dealing with privacy-related regulations and providing compliance advice, ideally with some of that experience at a software company that has privacy impacts across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience designing and delivering privacy-related training and presentations at all levels, including Senior Leadership
  • Comfort in reading legislative and regulatory documents and designing frameworks that are easy to follow
  • Experience with translating documents into language that non-privacy people can understand
  • IAPP certified or other compliance certification
  • Hands-on experience with guiding companies through the implementation of privacy, risk and compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR, etc.)
  • Proficiency with helping teams assess privacy/compliance risk (e.g., the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments)
  • Experience with developing incident playbooks and responding to privacy breaches
  • General familiarity with data security practices that reinforce privacy
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating privacy concepts for diverse audiences (e.g., explaining to customers how Jane adheres to a particular privacy framework)

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to the Jane Team when it comes to assessing privacy risk when making decisions
  • Interact with Senior Leaders in giving advice and providing input on projects that involve privacy implications
  • Take a lead role in privacy education and awareness initiatives, including developing training materials and delivering the training across Jane
  • Contribute to the overall privacy strategy and continuous improvement of Jane's privacy/compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry standards and compliance requirements
  • Help our Support team (and customers directly) through tricky and often high-stress privacy/legal situations
  • Proactively research privacy legislation to see how it impacts the services we deliver in different jurisdictions and develop plans to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management teams to integrate privacy measures into the development lifecycle
  • Communicate needed product changes, including advocating for security and privacy improvements in the product based on customer feedback and regulatory / legal requirements
  • Lead internal and external privacy and compliance audit initiatives
  • Act as back-up for the Privacy and Compliance Manager and collaborate closely with the Trust Enablement Team and leaders to plan privacy, risk and compliance strategies, goal setting, capacity building within the team, etc
  • Manage relationships with vendors and external partners to enhance Jane's privacy/compliance capabilities
