
Senior Product Software Engineer

Summary
Join Hive's new Ads team as a founding engineer to build a new product line from the ground up. You will have a significant impact on the product and team, influencing engineering team operations, collaboration, and best practices. The Ads team will drive a new revenue stream and lead cross-functional efforts. You will rapidly build new features, contribute to code reviews and technical planning, take ownership of projects, optimize system performance, and collaborate with team members on web architecture. You will also work directly with the customer success team to solve customer problems. Hive uses a minimum viable product development philosophy and offers a fully remote work environment in Canada.
Requirements
- 5+ years of building highly performant software systems
- Experience collaborating closely with Product & Design to design, implement and iterate on high impact end-to-end product experiences
- Youโre able to design and articulate simple solutions to complex problems, identifying tradeoffs and risks
- Youโve seen the inner workings of how software is made by a team on a shared codebase - you can articulate what communication, development processes and tooling you do/donโt find effective and why
- You've thrived in remote settings, excelling in async communication, independent work, and time management. You can articulate your preferred communication and working style effectively
- Legally able to work within Canada
Responsibilities
- Rapidly build new features that users will love, continuously refining them based on feedback
- Contribute to code reviews, technical spec reviews, technical planning, and architectural decision-making
- Be able to take responsibility and ownership of projects from start to finish
- Take part in technical planning and architectural decision-making
- Find solutions to optimize bottle-necks and general system wide performance. Always on the lookout to keep the tech stack updated with current standards
- Collaborate with team members on designing scalable, and well documented web architecture, including APIs and backend systems
- Work directly with our customer success team to solve customer-impacting problems
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with React, Typescript, Python, Django, Redis, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
