Senior Ruby Software Engineer

Summary

Join our team as a Senior Ruby Software Engineer and contribute to the development and maintenance of our core Rails applications used by millions. Work remotely or in a flexible regime in Curitiba, Brazil, with hours partially compatible with the PST time zone. You will design, build, and maintain efficient code, ensuring optimal performance and quality. This role requires 5+ years of web development experience, proficiency in Ruby and another programming language, and experience with Rails or a similar framework. The position offers a competitive daily rate in USD, determined through interviews and a review of qualifications. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in web development projects
• Experience working with front-end and back-end development
• 5+ years of development experience
• Proficient in Ruby and at least one other programming language (Python, PHP, etc)
• Experience with Rails or a similar MVC framework (django, symfony)
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational database
• Good understanding of object oriented programming
• Good understanding of Chef/Puppet or a similar configuration management tool
• Comfortable following the best practices like testing (rspec), refactoring and writing clear, self-documenting code

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code
• Ensure the best possible performance and quality for our code
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems
• Help maintain code quality, organization and automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Ideally experience with AWS (S3, EC2, CloudFront, etc.)
• Ideally experience with Ember.js or a similar Javascript framework
