Summary

Join Lightspeed as a Senior Python Developer and contribute to our Hospitality product group's mission of expanding into new markets and enhancing our commerce platform. As part of the Recommendations Squad, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python, implement recommendation algorithms, build APIs, and integrate various systems. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to create personalized user experiences. This role requires 5+ years of Python development experience, strong communication skills, and expertise in RESTful APIs and microservices. The ideal candidate will also possess experience with recommendation systems and Agile development. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Python
• Strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and distributed systems
• Experience with databases such as MySQL or DynamoDB
• Knowledge of monitoring applications for performance and reliability
• Hands-on experience with Kafka
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to clean code, maintainability, and systematic correctness

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems using Python
• Implement and optimize recommendation algorithms to enhance user experience
• Develop and maintain robust APIs and microservices for seamless system integration
• Work with data engineers and machine learning teams to process and utilize large datasets effectively
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and enhance development practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring system reliability and scalability
• Extending your very own skills by learning from and growing with the team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with recommendation systems, machine learning models, or data-driven applications
• Experience in Agile development environments
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP, TLS, etc.)
• Proficiency with CI/CD systems, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud environments like AWS or GCP
• Computer Science degree or equivalent
