Summary

Join Heidi, a company on a mission to revolutionize healthcare delivery, as a Senior Android Engineer. Lead the development of our first native Android application, bringing Heidi's functionalities to clinicians. Collaborate with iOS engineers and product designers to create seamless mobile experiences. Architect and build a robust, scalable, and high-performing Android app, integrating on-device machine learning models. Manage the entire Android development lifecycle, from CI/CD to compliance with healthcare standards. This role requires strong Kotlin and native Android API skills, along with experience in cross-platform collaboration and mentoring.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience, fluent in Kotlin and Android ecosystem SDKs
  • Deep knowledge of native Android APIs, Compose and other Jetpack libraries, and modern architectural patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
  • Experience submitting and maintaining apps on Google Play
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, and a detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flat-structured, and high-agency environment

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop Heidi’s first Android app, taking it from concept to launch
  • Define the Android mobile infrastructure and best practices for future functionality and team growth
  • Collaborate with our iOS engineers to ensure cross-platform consistency and knowledge sharing
  • Integrate on-device ML models to enable real-time AI features
  • Work closely with design and product teams to deliver pixel-perfect, intuitive UIs
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and security standards (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Continuously optimise app performance, reliability, and security

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience running ML models on-device (TensorFlow Lite or similar) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with RESTful API integrations, offline storage, and performance tuning
  • Some exposure to iOS (Swift UI) and willingness to collaborate closely with our iOS team
