Summary

Join the Linux Foundation's LFX platform team as a backend engineer and contribute to a mission-critical application impacting millions in the open-source ecosystem. You'll be part of an open-source-focused team, leading projects, interacting with users, making architectural decisions, and managing infrastructure. This role involves building and optimizing a scalable backend architecture, handling billions of data points, and working with a modern tech stack including Node.js, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and more. The position is fully remote within European time zones and offers a competitive salary.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience working with backend technologies
  • Proficiency in Node.js, Kafka, SQL, and Kubernetes
  • Deep expertise in SQL and database optimization, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and schema design for large datasets
  • Strong knowledge of big data application scaling and distributed system design
  • Professional experience with Snowflake or other data warehouses
  • A strong team player, willing to put on many hats and contribute towards the team's goals
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Able to work during the European time zone (CET +/- two hours)

Responsibilities

  • Build the backend of an application that will potentially help millions of developers and companies in the open source ecosystem
  • Develop a lean and scalable architecture capable of handling billions of data points
  • Lead your own projects
  • Design, develop, and optimize our backend architecture for high-performance and scalability
  • Own and refine database performance, ensuring efficient indexing, partitioning, caching, and query execution
  • Support in managing our infrastructure
  • Work closely with the whole development team on the technical big picture, and contribute to strategic and company-wide decisions with the entire team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ClickHouse and PostgreSQL, or time series databases
  • Knowledge of DBT
  • Having previously built or maintained an open-source project
