
Senior Software Engineer

Summary
Join UNiDAYS as a Senior Software Engineer and contribute to building innovative solutions for our student marketplace. This hands-on role requires a commercially-minded full-stack engineer to bridge user needs and business goals, building resilient and cost-effective solutions. You will work within the Marketplace team, defining, building, and measuring the impact of implemented solutions, playing a key role in transitioning the product to a modern web stack. The position involves collaboration with product, delivery, and engineering teams. Remote work within the UK is possible with occasional travel to London or Nottingham campuses required. Requirements
- Possess a strong working knowledge of Typescript
- Have experience with React
- Demonstrate an understanding of Modern Web frameworks, including Next.js
- Have experience with unit testing (ideally jest) and e2e testing (e.g. Cypress/Playwright)
- Possess knowledge on web best practices for performance, accessibility, core web vitals and SEO
- Have a passion for engineering craft - practice writing maintainable code, reviewing code, pair programming at times, and writing tests
- Have a coaching mentality - help make the entire team better by working with them
- Have a desire to build systems that are stable, scalable, secure, observable, and performant
- Seek to understand how your work aligns with business goals and maximize the impact
- Have a strong understanding of agile methodologies such as scrum, kanban etc. and the adaptability to respond to the needs of the business
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Lead by example to proactively foster an inclusive, diverse, and positive engineering culture across the business

- Deliver impactful features with a pragmatic approach
- Proactively contribute to the betterment of other engineers in the company through sponsoring, mentoring and providing constructive, candid feedback
- Proactively give technical and strategic feedback that leads to better outcomes
- Prioritize the most impactful problems and be able to bring about change with effective momentum
- Communicate solutions/risks of technical problems to non-technical stakeholders
- Champion user-centric solutions with a keen eye on market fit and profitability
