Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

Summary

Join Instacart's Data Platform - Self-Serve team as a Senior Software Engineer II, focusing on the Experimentation Platform. You'll extend and maintain A/B testing and metrics platforms, collaborate with data scientists and engineers, implement new experimentation methodologies, and develop tools for data-driven decision-making across the company. This role offers a high degree of ownership and the opportunity to drive new initiatives, mentor team members, and champion engineering excellence. You'll work closely with other teams to understand their data needs and translate them into self-serve and reliable solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of working experience in a similar field/environment
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Strong knowledge of common data infra technologies (Python, Airflow, Snowflake, dbt) in a production environment
• Experience working with a large codebase on a cross functional team
• An ability to balance a sense of urgency with shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
• Self-motivation and an enjoyment for a startup environment
• A strong sense of ownership

Responsibilities

• Extend and maintain our internal A/B testing and metrics platforms which informs our product development process
• Work closely with data scientists and engineers to implement new experimentation methodologies
• Work on tooling to help other cross-functional teams make better data-driven decisions
• You will be part of a small team, with a large amount of ownership and surface area given that the tooling is used by the entire company
• You will have the freedom to suggest and drive new initiatives
• You are expected to mentor other team members and be a champion of engineering excellence
• You will work closely with other teams to understand their main pain points around data and translate them into self-serve and reliable solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, computer engineering, electrical engineering OR equivalent work experience
