Senior Software Engineer, Guest & Host

Summary

Join Airbnb's next-gen Media platform team as a Senior Backend Engineer to build and improve the foundation powering Airbnb products. Collaborate with a diverse team to build and operate Airbnb’s Media infrastructure, shaping the technical vision and delivering scalable solutions. Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute on product strategy and build user-friendly features. Contribute to the full development cycle, from design and development to testing and launch, while continuously learning and improving technical and non-technical skills. This US-remote eligible position requires 5+ years of relevant software development experience, strong Java skills, excellent communication, and a passion for efficiency and quality. Experience with image processing or video transcoding is also needed. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast paced tech environment
• You possess strong software skills in Java
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering, product & design organizations
• You are passionate about efficiency, availability, technical quality and system quality
• Experience working with image processing or content video transcoding

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features that our users will love
• Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks
• Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities
