Senior Software Engineer - Platform Workflows

Summary

Join Canva's Platform Workflows team and help redefine how the world experiences design. Based in Sydney with options to work from other Australian campuses or remotely, you will deeply understand the needs of platform engineers, build tools and services to enhance their experience, consult with internal users, and take ownership of configuration frameworks. This role requires experience with Python and Go, Kubernetes, AWS cloud environments, and excellent communication skills. Requirements

• You have experience with Python and Go programming languages
• You have experience with Kubernetes, ideally including Custom Resource Definitions
• You have experience with AWS (and as a plus, GCP) cloud environments
• You have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand the needs and workflows of platform engineers and other consumers of the infrastructure platform at Canva
• Writing tools, services, configuration and whatever else is required to ensure that platform engineers have a low-friction experience shipping new capabilities
• Consulting with internal users and other platform teams to bring clarity and alignment
• Taking ownership of our existing configuration frameworks and other infrastructure abstraction tools that help platform engineers expose new platform capabilities to users
• Participating in planning rituals at the team and group level to ensure that the needs of platform engineers and infrastructure consumers are prioritised
• Working alongside product managers to bring a product mindset to platform engineering at Canva

Preferred Qualifications

• You have previously worked in a platform engineering capacity is desired but not required
• You have some experience with AI tooling for use with software engineering, such as Copilot or Claude Code
• You may benefit from prior experience as a consultant, business analyst, or developer advocate
