Senior Systems Engineer

Summary

Join Bounteous' Managed Services team as a Senior Systems Engineer to build and maintain flexible systems for internal and external clients. You will support a leading eCommerce and Digital Presence infrastructure, promoting information security best practices and ensuring data protection compliance. Responsibilities include incident, change, and problem management, infrastructure maintenance, and developing automation for server provisioning. You will collaborate with platform developers, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to monitoring improvements. The role requires expert knowledge of Windows PowerShell and Linux shell, web technologies, and cloud technologies (Azure and AWS).

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of Windows power shell and Linux shell
• Expert knowledge of web technologies (web servers, DNS, SSL, Browsers)
• Working knowledge of web development processes (source control, deployment, etc.)
• Experience improving workflow (reducing/optimizing tasks)
• Knowledge in deploying and maintaining cloud technologies as part of larger systems
• Understanding of security implications of architecture decisions
• Practical knowledge of common Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) services and practices
• Willing to participate in on-call rotation as part of Global support

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the good standing of the server infrastructure. We are responsible for many Windows and Linux servers and an increasing investment in serverless technologies
• Support and maintenance of systems and infrastructure environments managed for our clients
• Incident Management – Provide timely response to disruption of service and restoration of service ensuring proper documentation in ticketing system
• Change Management – prepare proper ticket documentation, implementation and backout plans to successfully implement changes to the client’s environments
• Problem Management – participate in working sessions and work to permanently resolve recurring and critical incidents
• Helping to research and develop new infrastructure technologies and approaches as they emerge
• Supporting several platforms at the server / service level. This at times includes eCommerce platforms, Content Management Platforms, Data integration, and custom systems
• Performing routine tasks related to the infrastructure of our clients’ systems
• Monitoring for and responding to anomalies within our infrastructure, including on-call rotation as part of a larger team
• Helping to design and improve our monitoring and reporting
• Developing and maintaining automation for provisioning and deployment of the server infrastructure
• Working closely with platform developers to solve their infrastructure-related issues, and mentoring others in understanding implications and limitations of the technology
• Troubleshooting incidents and problems in platforms we support
• Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols
• Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on how these risks impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets
• Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
• Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change and problem management) and ITSM ticketing systems is a plus
• ITIL certification; experience working in an ITIL shop
• Operating eCommerce servers, especially Hybris, Magento 2, Drupal
• Operating Content Management Systems such as Drupal, AEM
• Load testing, pen testing, and providing security for cloud resources
• Administering and using monitoring tools (NewRelic, splunk, sumologic, etc) to troubleshoot issues
• Other cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud
• Detailed working experience with any specific language or platform we’re required to support: such platforms as Hybris, Drupal, AEM, Magento 2, Fusion, React; and languages including Java, JavaScript, C# / .NET, PHP
