You will work on vehicle diagnostics, OBD-II, CAN bus systems, ECUs, and ADAS, leveraging both Linux and RTOS-based embedded systems. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of professional experience developing firmware/software solutions for vehicle diagnostics, OBD-II, CAN bus systems, and ECUs on embedded systems
  • Strong coding skills, with a proven track record of developing and debugging complex embedded systems
  • A portfolio of work demonstrating experience with prototyping, new product development, and influencing product roadmaps
  • Hands-on expertise with embedded Linux and RTOS systems relevant to vehicle technologies
  • Proficiency in low-level C/C++, Linux kernel development, debugging, and CI/CD workflows
  • Experience with hardware-firmware integration and automotive communication protocols
  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostic protocols (UDS, J1939) and automotive cybersecurity practices
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly prototype and evaluate groundbreaking technologies in vehicle diagnostics, OBD-II, CAN bus systems, ECUs, and ADAS, leveraging both Linux and RTOS-based embedded systems
  • Forge strategic partnerships with external technology and SoC vendors, driving innovation and aligning their roadmaps with Samsara's vision
  • Translate complex product requirements into elegant and scalable firmware solutions
  • Champion security best practices, ensuring robust and secure solutions across all stages of development
  • Navigate and apply regulatory compliance requirements relevant to automotive and IoT devices
  • Clearly demonstrate your work and influence product direction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with V2X, sensor integration, perception systems, and ADAS
  • Experience bringing vehicle diagnostics or safety systems from inception to production
  • In-depth experience with developer boards, prototyping, and KPI evaluation
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards (ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434)
  • Proficiency with automotive-grade SoCs, MCUs, and experience working with external vendors
  • Experience with cloud connectivity and IoT platforms for vehicle data
