Summary

Join Motional as a Systems Integration Test Engineer and lead system-level testing and validation of autonomous vehicle systems. Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, ensuring safe and reliable integration and performance. Conduct integration and validation testing, develop test plans, and execute simulations and vehicle tests. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze post-testing data, and prepare readiness reviews for senior leadership. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in system-level testing, understands system architecture, and excels in managing subsystem interactions. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field
  • 5+ years of experience in system integration or system-level testing and validation of complex safety critical systems including requirement analysis, test plan development, execution and reporting
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering, System Architecture, V&V activities and V model
  • Experience in data analysis and generating dashboards using tools like Python and SQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Additional duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute system-level test strategies to validate autonomous vehicle performance under both nominal and off-nominal conditions
  • Conduct integration and validation testing of features and subsystems, along with regression and system-level verification, to ensure consistent and reliable performance
  • Develop detailed simulation and vehicle test plans and procedures to test autonomous vehicle software, architecture or design changes
  • Author test plans and work directly with test engineers, test operators to ensure execution fidelity and test quality
  • Establish proactive testing workflows to identify gaps in test coverage, provide targeted feedback, and influence development roadmaps
  • Analyze post testing data to identify anomalies and support root cause analysis for system failures. Develop automated data analysis and dashboard creation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop best practices for integration processes and system validation
  • Prepare and present readiness reviews to senior leadership to secure milestone approvals and ensure safe system deployment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle or ADAS testing and validation
  • Hands-on experience with closed course, on-road and simulation testing
  • Experience in CAN bus communication and networking using tools such as Vector CANoe, dSPACE, or NI hardware
  • Experience using issue tracking and configuration management tools (E.g: Atlassian Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Git.)
