You will develop and execute Bitso's global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with international tax laws and regulations. Lead a small team of tax professionals, fostering professional development and collaboration. Collaborate with product and business teams to assess tax implications of new products and projects. Manage tax compliance efforts and coordinate with outside advisors. Oversee the development and execution of a transfer pricing strategy. Prepare the income tax provision and disclosures. Lead the preparation for and management of tax audits.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in tax strategy, compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions and currencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field is required
- 8+ years of experience leading diverse, cross-functional teams across multiple locations, fostering collaboration and effective communication in a global environment
- In-depth knowledge of international tax matters, especially in crypto or financial services
- Extensive experience spanning including transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and tax compliance across diverse regulatory environments
- Proven track record in building and scaling global tax functions, and the ability to interpret and apply regulations with a balanced risk/reward perspective
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of financial data and reports, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity
- Strong track record and passion for building, managing, mentoring, and inspiring teams, with the ability to influence peers and lead cross-functional initiatives
- Able to assert ideas, gain support, and mobilize action across departments
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex cross-border tax matters, and a proven ability to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to senior management
- Sets a benchmark for ethical conduct, maintaining the highest standards of honesty and integrity
- Deep experience in Mexico is essential, given Bitso’s primary operations in the country
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Bitso’s global tax strategy, ensuring full compliance with international tax laws and regulations
- Oversee the preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns and other related filings in the jurisdictions Bitso operates in
- Mentor and manage a small tax professional team, fostering professional development and promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment
- Collaborate with product and business teams to assess the tax implications of new products and projects from inception
- Analyze potential issues and clearly define a recommendation to ensure compliance with an eye for tax efficiency across the business
- Stay informed on emerging tax issues in our jurisdictions, and build systems for ongoing tax risk management
- Manage and coordinate tax compliance efforts, including corporate tax returns and other international tax requirements, with support from outside advisors where appropriate
- Working with the Corporate Controller, Legal team and advisors, oversee the development and execution of a transfer pricing strategy, ensuring arm’s length standards are met
- Ensure all underlying documentation is kept up to date
- Prepare the income tax provision and any necessary disclosures in collaboration with the Corporate Controller
- Ensure accurate representation of tax impacts on financial statements
- Lead the preparation for and manage any tax audits or requests by tax authorities
- Anticipate potential tax issues and develop a strategy for successful resolution
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the crypto, fintech or brokerage industry is a plus, as is LATAM tax experience
- Experience with U.S. tax matters for investors, such as K-1s, PFIC, and CFC issues, is a plus
- Familiarity with tax regulations in Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia would be highly valued
